APRI-SF Chapter thanks all those who participated in our event, the "Halloween Safe Bash", last Friday, October 24, 2009.  We thank the Labor 261 Community Service & Training Foundation for their partnership in the event.

It was estimated that about 500 people came ~ from toddlers to oldies (not ghoulies) ~ between 4pm and 8pm to participate in the event.  In this light, we would like to thank YCD or Young Community Developers, Inc. for their contribution of treats when we had a huge overflow from the expected number of people who RSVPd to come.

Many wore their Halloween costumes. There was a long line that kept on going till nite set in so as to visit the Haunted House prepared by our own APRI-SF staff.  This was set-up in the recently inaugurated Oscar De La Torre Learning Center of APRI-SF Chapter as a spooky good and safe place to have the community enjoy Halloween together with treat bags for the kids.  BBQ'd hotdogs were served, as well as fruits and juices.

A mini-Haunted House was set-up outside the Learning Center for the toddlers to let them experience the spirit of Halloween without pee-ing in their pants for fear ;-)  Smiling scarecrows and ghosts were the theme for this small scale "haunted house".

A. Philip Randolph Institute-San Francisco Chapter has been in the forefront of many community activities making sure that the rights, benefits, and well-being of the community, and the disenfranchised are addressed.

Everyone had a great scary fun with this first of firsts in APRI-SF Chapter's many community events.  Looks like it’s going to stay and even grow meaner next time.  And we hope that you will be there with us again and continue to support our various endeavors.

APRI-SF heads in organizing the Advisory Committee meetings and related community gatherings.  APRI-SF helped the DTSC in preparing for this event as well as in documenting the meeting in pictures.

There was a very interesting and substantial question and answer with regards to the concerns of the clean-up and further explanation is also available in the Bayview library as presented by PG&E.  More information on DTSC is also available through their website at: http://www.envirostor.dtsc.ca.gov/public/profile_report.asp?global_id=38490002.
