SAN FRANCISCO - On Tuesday November 22, the A. Philip
Randolph Institute-San Francisco provide local families
full turkey dinners with all the trimmings for the
Thanksgiving Holiday. This huge goodwill effort will
feed close to 1000 families, that's about 200 more than
last years event.
Two days before Thanksgiving volunteers delivered food
baskets to three San Francisco Housing Authority (SFHA)
developments: Alice Griffith, Westbrook, Hunter’s View,
and Hunter’s Point A-East and West
“This is a critical time for underserved families due to
continued high unemployment, and the recent downturn in
the economy,” comments Jackie Flin, Executive
Director-CEO of APRI-SF. “This puts a great deal of
pressure on community organizations to respond to the
overwhelming human need, but we are always up for this
important task, especially during the Thanksgiving and
Christmas Season. We want to do all we can to make sure
every family in need has a full meal for the holiday.”
From all of us at APRI-SF and our Project Partners,
Happy Holiday! |

City Pension and Health Care Benefits,
Measure C passes by an overwhelming 69% of San Francisco voters

going to the polls. (Photo by HB Meeks/Tell Us San Francisco)
More
than two-thirds of San Francisco voters in Tuesday's election
supported Proposition C, which would increase contributions by some
city workers and raise the minimum retirement age for some others to
save $1.3 billion over the next decade. San Francisco faces a $4
billion obligation over the next decade for tens of thousands of
current and former employees under its system, which was created in
better economic times.
Jacqueline Flin, Executive Director of A.
Philip Randolph Institute San Francisco made these comments, "Prop C
is a compromise resolution between labor unions, the business
community, and the mayors office as the best pension reform plan."
